Clinical pathology laboratory consultative services, in addition to anatomic pathology services and quality control consultative services, are provided to numerous regional rural hospitals and physician clinics. Patient specimens are received from Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Oregon

Scope of Services:

 Subspecialty Expertise and Consultative Services:

Special Studies:

Medical Director of Laboratory Services:  InCyte Pathology contracts with several hospitals to provide on-site anatomic pathology services, including frozen section examination and radiologic rapid assessment.  As medical directors of the laboratory, InCyte pathologists serve as clinical pathology consultants and are ultimately responsible for the laboratory's accreditation by the College of American Pathologists which, in turn, is a necessary component for hospital accreditation agencies such as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), etc.  As members of hospital medical staffs, our pathologists serve in consultant roles to a broad variety of physician specialties and serve on a large number of hospital committees.  Our pathologists frequently chair Tumor Board discussions, serving as key members of teams of specialists determining the best treatment options for cancer patients.

Description of Duties of Laboratory Medical Director:  The laboratory medical director is a board-certified pathologist with broad knowledge in both clinical laboratory science and clinical medicine.  The medical director's duties and responsibilities include the following:

Autopsy Services:  As hospital pathologists, at the request of attending physicians, InCyte pathologists perform autopsies on patients who expire in the hospital.

Collaboration with Spokane County Medical Examiners Office:  InCyte Pathology was instrumental in helping to establish the Medical Examiner's Office for Spokane County.  Our region is fortunate to have board-certified forensic pathologists, Drs. Sally Aiken and John Howard.  Because there is now a first-rate county medical examiner's office in Spokane, InCyte Pathology no longer performs autopsy pathology, but works with Drs. Aiken and Howard in a consultative role.
